The very first Birmingham Basket Brigade took place in 2003 when we create small food hampers for just 20 families in the most disadvantaged areas of Birmingham, working closely with Social Services to identify the families most in need.

Over the years our annual Birmingham Basket Brigade Event has grown in size, with more and more families being supported and an increasing number of volunteers coming along to join us on the day!

Number of Baskets delivered in previous years:

  • 2003 – 20 families
  • 2004 – 50 families
  • 2005 – 100 families
  • 2006 – 200 families
  • 2007 – 400 hampers support families and local charities such as The Salvation Army & Birmingham City Mission
  • 2008 – 612 hampers support families and local charities such as The Salvation Army & Birmingham City Mission
  • 2009  – 250 families

Where did the idea for Basket Brigade come from?

It all started with the motivational leader Tony Robbins.  Tony shares a very personal and heart-warming story of how he was the beneficiary of an anonymous food-parcel when the family most needed it.

Now, years later, the “Basket Brigade” concept grows from strength to strength as more people around the world appreciate the abundance around their own lives and wish to “give back”.

  • “Everyone has a need to contribute. It is one of the six human needs. If you give from your heart, it will come back to you tenfold.”

Anthony Robbins, founder of Basket Brigade.
